Title: Amethyst
Universe: War of the Animum, pre-Darkness Descends, canon
Rating: T
Desc: From the moment he laid eyes on Sleet, the craving set in. From that instant, it became an obsession.

It was his eyes that had done him in.

From the moment Frost had looked into those gem-like amethyst colored orbs, he had been hooked. He wanted to possess Sleet, to mark him all over and parade him around as his own. He wanted to own those eyes, to tame that defiance. He wanted to make Sleet his.

It had been amusing at first. Those eyes had looked up at him with such defiance, such determination. And yet, Sleet still melted under his touch, still submitted to him with only the barest hint of struggle.

Frost had always been a man that valued rare things.

Gems. Jewelry. Scrolls. Books. Weapons.

If it was ancient. If it was rare. If it was one in existence, one of a kind. If it was difficult to obtain, then all the better. Even if he couldn't sell it, if the object only joined his collection of items of rarity, he still wanted it.

He would covet said object. Staring at it until he could have it, feeling his fingers twitch with the urge to thieve. His heart would thunder and he would crave, the hunger not leaving until he finally put his hands on it.

Meeting Sleet for the first time had the same effect on him.

He had heard the body approaching him, had sensed something nearing from the side. Frost didn't think anyone would be brave enough to steal from him. Still, he was prepared for the hand that slipped into his pouch. He gave the courageous thief a moment of victory before clamping down on the probing fingers.

And then he turned to look into the most beautiful jewels of all.

It wasn't that he hadn't seen people with eyes of that color. But they were always playing at amethyst, playing at the rare gem. In other lights, the purple would fade to pale blue, would darken to midnight. At night, they would become onyx stone. In the brightness of day, they were sheer quartz.

But not Sleet's.

No matter how he turned, no matter how deep Frost stared, they remained that elusive mineral. That one pure gem he could never get his hands on.

The very one rumored to be a myth.

He knew, from the moment he caught that young thief's gaze, that he would one day own Sleet Underwood. He had to have those orbs for himself, as well as the man attached to them.

Frost had been drawn by the boy's stubbornness, had hungered for a taste of his determination, his will. Sleet was fooling himself so well, but Frost could see right through him. In a moment, he was able to see exactly what Sleet wanted.

It took some effort, some planning, but he finally managed to rope Sleet into his existence. He vowed to never let those gems from his sight.

And then the voice spoke to him. Faint at first, but growing in strength, in demands. The voice hungered too, for rarity and the most precious gem. A part of the voice wanted his Sleet, but for a different reason.

Frost ignored it at first, certain he was going mad. But soon, the voice became too loud for him to ignore and he forced himself to acknowledge those dangerous words. They whispered of wealth beyond his imaginings. It promised him the knowledge he had so desperately sought, the location of the true amethyst.

He hungered again.

Frost eventually gave in to the voice's demands. It wasn't until it was too late that he realized he was losing control. But not until he had extracted a promise from the voice, forcing an agreement. Sleet was not to be harmed.

If the true amethyst proved to be false, then Frost wanted those eyes, that stare that had always captivated him. And if he were to be honest, he wanted Sleet. He wanted to keep that defiance and determination for himself.

The voice agreed and the deal was done.

That very night, he had laid to rest and dreamt of a piercing, disobedient gaze, locked in striations of nobility and Frost hungered.

Oh, how he hungered.
