n_wilkinson: (day of reckoning)
Good morning! It's time for another character highlight since I've been so slack and not putting them out as I should be. Today we meet a main character from a soon-to-be posted fic, "Shady Hill."

Good morning~

I'm here to report another victory. I have, at last, finished Shady Hill! An urban fantasy I started years ago and became stalled on because of the plot. I call this the first draft and it's DONE.

I'll be posting a few snippets here and there to gauge interest in it and if there's enough, I'll start posting it to read. And I've also realized that, in the search for fixing the plot, I've changed up a few things and.... it's actually a sequel to Synesthesia. It's set in the same universe at least, though far in the future. No Ethan to be found here, alas, but you'll get a glimpse at what happens to Ethan's future.

Fun times!

And now back to the list of 2014 goals. I'm crossing items off it. Huzzah!

Good afternoon!

NaNo is through, I was successful. Now it's time to see what's on the list for December. I have several busy weeks ahead. Shopping. Wrapping. Job hunting. Cleaning. But I'm definitely planning on a lot of writing.

I'm focusing on two fics for sure, with others trickling in on the edges for the sake of variety.

First and foremost, I'm working on finishing my m/m urban fantasy romance Shady Hill (title subject to change). This one has gone through several plot revisions but I now have a clear picture of how I want it to go. I'm about four-fifths of the way done with the first draft. If I can stamp complete on this, I'll be a happy writer.

I'm leaving East of Eden edits for 2015.

I hope to write and post some ficlets, too. Little glimpses into all these stories. I don't want to waste this opportunity to get some writing work done.

You can always ask me about the progress of anything I haven't mentioned. I don't mind one bit. :)

Good afternoon everyone!

This is a fly-by post to let all fans of my original fiction know that I'm hosting the Torquere livejournal today. Stop on by to say hello and enter for a chance to win free stuff! I'll also be posting bits from my eventually upcoming fic Shady Hill for the curious and also talking about the yet untitled sequel to The Requiem of Janus. I'll also be offering opportunity for prompting ficlets for original works.

Hope to see you there!

a/n: I like to write just before I go to bed. I come up with the strangest things that way. Plus, it's fun to do it longhand. My very best friend likes to buy me these cute notebooks, and I like to fill them up. *laughs*

So, one of the things I do, is put on my mp3 player, and write for the length of a song, and let about three songs play. So.... here's three of them! I did nothing to these but tidy up the grammar and finish up some incomplete sentences. Some may give birth to longer fics. Time shall tell.

Featured fandoms today: Synesthesia and Shady Hill

a/n: Good evening! Got a little ficlet for ya'll! It's a crossover piece starring Sleet from War of the Animum and Jasper from Shady Hill. It's part of a new experiment I'm running, a series of ficlets that are crossovers. Most of them with a Beach-theme but not all of them.

This one's PG-rated, save for a little cursing perhaps.

Title: Crab Legs
Characters: Sleet Underwood, Jasper Cole
Series: War of the Animum, Shady Hill

"It's been two hours!"  )
a/n: This fic is dedicated to my mother, who treats crab legs in the same way as Sleet and horrifies me every time. *grins*

Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

Good afternoon folks!

Today I bring you another in my series of real life people who resemble the characters I've created for my original fiction. Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] azardarkstar and [livejournal.com profile] mandalee1013 for their suggestions on these characters!

So, it occurred to me, that sometimes, readers like visuals to accompany descriptions of characters. So, I'm always on the lookout for actors/actresses that resemble characters in my original fiction.

Today, I have three that I have discovered to share with you. I'll bring more soon as I discover them.

... and prompt fics!

Yep. Today I'm announcing the winner of yesteday's free copy of whichever novel they prefer, and I'm going to go ahead and post the prompt fics I wrote for my hosting of the TQ social yesterday. These prompts were given to me by the visitors to the TQ social and feature my original works prominently.

First, though, I'd like to say congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] gypsygrrl420 whose name I drew out of the hat to make her the winner of yesterday's random drawing. Send me a PM and let me know which novel you'd like.

For [livejournal.com profile] sydmcginley
Prompt: laundry day gone wrong, your choice of pairing

Joshua just wasn't cut out to be Suzy homemaker.  )

For [livejournal.com profile] sydmcginley
Prompt "rice pudding accident"

"That was not an accident."  )

For [livejournal.com profile] stevie_carroll
Prompt "hair-related story"

He wanted to distract Janus from whatever dry historical tome he was reading... )

For [livejournal.com profile] ali_wilde
Prompt: Leonard and Willoughby, "Wow, would you look at that penguin?"

"Hey, it's snowing."  )

Phew. Those were all pretty challenging, but I had a great time writing them.

I hope you all enjoyed those little snippets. Thanks for reading!

I'm still working on the flash fiction, don't worry. You'll see some of them tomorrow and then the rest on Monday.

With November 30th right around the corner and my muses refusing to cooperate, now's as good a time as any to validate my word count and mark myself a NaNo winner.

Today I'm on chapter six of Shady Hill and still going strong! Turkey Day will see a lapse in writing as I'll be spending all day either working or driving (what luck!) so I'm not anticipating much word adding. BUT! Friday will see the return of Flash Fiction and Saturday is a day off to spend writing, writing, writing. I can't wait.

Today I bring another excerpt from Shady Hill and a word count update.

This scene is from chapter two. It's NSFW and it's very slashy and very tasty. I hope you enjoy! Just keep in mind that this is the very rough draft and I haven't edited it in the slightest bit. *grins*

As promised, today I bring you an update to the word count and a snippet of my NaNo novel, which I was finally able to get started on a week ago. Yep, I'm pretty late to the game. Luckily, I had In Darkness Dwells to boost my word count while access to my notes for Shady Hill was wavering on impossible.

Progress has been proceeding at a steady clip. Today I'm on chapter three and it's moving along swimmingly. I'm quite pleased with the way Shady Hill is turning out actually. It's even better than I could have anticipated.

Today, I bring you an extended description and summary.
